We headed off from Hyderabad at about 6 AM on a day which turned out to be a really lovely day. 26th Jan happens to be the Republic Day of India and in 2009 it was part of a long weekend Monday. But this year it also happened to be the Solar Eclipse day. So the temple at Sri Sailam which normally attracts hordes of visitors on long weekends was closed for ritual cleansing. This was convenient for people like us, for whom the holy abode was not the only destination, as the entire place was not crowded at all.

Update 200902061841:
I added a panoramic view of the Sri Sailam dam at the bottom. This was created by stitching together seven photographs and presents view of somewhere between 120 to 150 degrees view angle.
Charminar, the symbol of Hyderabad, en-route.

This was a very big man-made (bunded) water reservoir that we stopped at on our way. The view was definitely worth the delay the stop caused.
The sweet Delhi girl (quite an endangered species) jus kiddin... to keep the fight going on...

The bund of the reservoir

I have no clue when I took these shots with the camera obviously dangling upside down. May be when i was cleaning its bottom I accidentally pressed the shutter release. I decided to let them here for some tickles factor.

The Sri Sailam dam (quite a few more photos below... and I will put in a panoramic view soon)

New rule for next outing. All cell phones and other communications gadgets switched off.
She is still on the phone... By the way, I liked this experiment with over exposing. Kind of really shows the people very clearly while adding an aura of sorts to the surroundings (which suits the holiness of the place too :-)

Just try to imagine the amount of water those walls are holding back.
Thinking deeply about solutions to the problems of common man
Still thinking...

Wish we had got our swimming trunks along

All that thinking paid off and Jay has found a way to check whether his nose is clear or not...
